Father Christmas is coming to town

Christmas is coming to Wayfarers Arcade on Lord Street. The Winter Wonderland, opening on Saturday 29 November, will be the only indoor grotto experience in Southport this year.

Following a busy day spreading festive cheer during the annual Christmas lights switch on last Sunday, Father Christmas will enjoy a well-earned rest this weekend before packing up his sleigh and settling into his new home in Wayfarers Arcade.

Father Christmas will welcome children at his magical grotto from 11am until 5pm every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas from 29 November, with a special present for all those who have been good this year. The snow-covered Winter Wonderland will be surrounded by festive decorations and twinkling lights, right in the heart of Wayfarers Arcade.

All funds raised by the grotto will be distributed by Southport Lions to worthy local causes.

Yvonne Burns, Wayfarers Arcade Manager, comments; "Father Christmas and his grotto bring a fantastic atmosphere to the arcade during the festive season. It’s lovely to see the joy on children’s faces and hear their excited chatter when they pay him a visit.

"We’ve teamed up with the Southport Lions this year to create the only indoor grotto experience in the town centre, and our winter wonderland will be bigger and better than ever before."

Joan Rylands, President of Southport Lions adds; "We’re delighted to have teamed up with Wayfarers Arcade to run our grotto this Christmas. As a stunning Victorian glass-domed building, the arcade has a wonderful traditional feel to it at Christmas time, so it’s the perfect place for this festive family fun. The funds raised will all go to good causes in the local community, spreading Christmas cheer to all."
