Emporium's empire expands again!
A SPECIALIST Celtic shop has moved to larger premises at Southport's Wayfarers Arcade after outgrowing its former unit for the second time in six years.
The Emporium, which specialises in gifts from the Celtic world, is run by sisters Fiona and Andrea Wright, who started their shop at the indoor shopping mall on Lord Street in 2000.
After more than 13 years trading at craft fairs the pair decided to turn their hobby into a full time business and launched The Emporium at the craft barrow on the Arcade's main walkway.
Two years later the business had grown so much they took on a larger unit and following another four years of gradual growth the Wright sisters have now moved again.
Fiona said: "Over the years we outgrew the craft barrow and now we have outgrown our small unit at the back of Wayfarers. We needed a bigger shop to offer more product ranges and increase our stock.
"Business has steadily grown since we first opened our shop and we have built up quite a large number of regular customers. Everyone in the Arcade is so friendly, there was no question of us moving anywhere else."
The Emporium stocks a wide range of gifts, including Celtic inspired jewellery, cards, t-shirts and CDs.
Wayfarers Arcade manager, Yvonne Burns, added: "This is a very exciting time for Fiona and Andrea, as well as their many loyal customers. They are a real success story because over the years they have turned their hobby into a successful business which has continued to grow. If they continue as they are they'll be wanting an even bigger unit before too long!"
